– The main source of this data is the Provisional Lists at the HK PRO.
– Where possible, Police and ANS records have been broken out and are listed separately under those units. However, some police data is still believed to be in these civilian records.
– These records have been merged with those of the CWGC. Where a date of death is given, the age of the person quoted is the age at time of death. In all other cases, it is the age as of January 1942.
– Nationalities have been recorded as in the Provisional Lists, but are not guaranteed. Any uncertain nationalities, or dual nationalities, are recorded under ‘British’.
– The CWGC list of Civilian War Dead for Hong Kong lists some people killed in Taiwan and the Philippines. Wherever possible, these have been excluded from these records.
– The CWGC list also includes fatalities from 1946. These have been removed.
